Jeffrey D. Grant, Esq.

Private General Counsel/High-Stakes Attorney

Home

GrantLaw provides discreet, high-judgment counsel to individuals and families navigating white-collar exposure, government investigations, sentencing, incarceration, and reentry—often at moments when the legal issues are inseparable from personal, professional, and reputational consequences.

Founded by Jeffrey D. Grant, Esq., GrantLaw is intentionally different from a traditional white-collar defense practice. The firm does not compete with large law firms or duplicate their work. Instead, it serves as private general counsel to individuals whose situations require independent judgment, careful coordination, and an understanding of the full lifecycle of white-collar matters—from investigation through reentry.

In addition to white-collar and crisis-driven representations, GrantLaw also advises clients in other complex legal situations and transactions where discretion, judgment, and strategic coordination are critical. These matters often involve closely held businesses, fiduciary or governance issues, sensitive negotiations, regulatory or licensing concerns, banking and financial complications, or transactions in which reputational or relational stakes are as important as legal terms. In these settings, GrantLaw functions as a strategic advisor and problem-solver, frequently coordinating with subject-matter specialists and larger firms as needed.

Jeff Grant is frequently engaged when large law firms cannot directly represent an individual because of conflicts, optics, or scope limitations, or when clients need guidance that extends beyond legal theory into real-world consequences. He works quietly alongside lead defense counsel and other advisors, respecting strategy and boundaries, while focusing on decision-making under extreme pressure, family dynamics, negotiation leverage, and long-term risk management—areas traditional legal teams are not designed to manage holistically.

Jeff brings more than 25 years of experience as a general counsel and white-collar practitioner, combined with first-hand experience navigating federal prosecution, incarceration, and reentry. After being disbarred, he was reinstated to the practice of law. He is also an ordained prison minister, has been in long-term recovery from alcohol and substance use, and is the co-founder and leader of the White Collar Support Group, a national organization that will hold its 500th weekly meeting in January 2026.

GrantLaw works best with clients who value clarity, restraint, and clear boundaries. Engagements are typically limited in scope, carefully structured, and designed to add value without creating noise or risk.

Jeff Grant is the real deal… I can’t imagine there is a lawyer in this country more qualified to help high-stakes clients navigate complex legal and business challenges. – Evan Osnos, The New Yorker
